Career impact

Numbers matter. Context matters more.

The point of measurement is not to make the work look busy. It is to show whether access expanded, barriers moved, and communities gained something real.

Impact in practice

What the numbers were attached to.

Metrics land differently when you can see the program design, partnerships, and operational choices underneath them.

Reentry & public benefits

Connecting people to food assistance before release.

At the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, I helped lead a reentry pilot with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety that connected 412 justice-involved individuals to FNS benefits prior to release. The resume's impact snapshot attributes $817K+ in estimated benefits, $1.46M+ in economic impact, and 294,965 meals to that work.

Design lesson: access improves when the system meets people before the cliff, not after it.

Statewide digital access

Making nutrition benefits easier to understand and apply for in Vermont.

As project manager for VermontFoodHelp.com, I led the conceptualization, design, and statewide rollout of an online pre-screening and application portal for federal nutrition assistance. The work paired plain-language digital tools with empathetic messaging, broad marketing, and partnerships with state agencies, public libraries, and local advocates.

Design lesson: a good digital front door needs both usable technology and trusted human pathways leading to it.

34-county outreach

Scaling benefits outreach without losing the local picture.

As Benefits Outreach Manager, I spearheaded nutrition-benefits outreach across a 34-county service area and drove a consistent 5% annual increase in FNS participation. The strategy blended volunteer recruitment, partner relationships, data tracking, and targeted work for older adults, rural families, and underserved populations.

Design lesson: scale works best when data helps you see where one-size-fits-all is failing.

Grassroots grantmaking

Turning community needs into fundable, workable plans.

At Legacy Works Group, I administered local and federally funded grant initiatives from concept through post-award execution, providing technical assistance, fiscal oversight, plain-language guidance, evaluation tools, peer-learning visits, food-safety trainings, and other capacity-building support.

Design lesson: equitable grantmaking is not lowering the bar. It is making the bar visible, navigable, and connected to meaningful support.

The metric behind the metrics

Did the system become easier to reach, use, trust, and improve?

That is the scorecard I care about most.
